Millionaires send Holtan to MJHL

MillionairesThe Melville Millionaires have traded defenceman Will Holtan (1994) to the MJHL’s Winnipeg Blues.

The trade completes a deal between the two squads that was consummated July 3, 2013 when the Blues sent goaltender Isaiah Plett (1993) to Melville in exchange for future considerations.

Immediately after acquiring Holtan, the Blues turned around and flipped him to the Swan Valley Stampeders in exchange for the rights to forward Ezra Hall (1996), defenceman Zach Lamothe (1997) and future considerations.

Canada West selection camp roster announced

WJACHockey Canada, in partnership with the CJHL, has released its Canada West selection camp roster for the upcoming 2013 World Junior A Challenge to be hosted Nov. 4 to 10 in Yarmouth, N.S.

A total of seven players from the SJHL have been named to the selection camp, which will be hosted Oct. 26 to 30 in Calgary, Alta. at the Markin MacPhail Centre.

Trent Cassan, head coach of the Yorkton Terriers, will serve as an assistant coach to head coach Jason McKee (Spruce Grove Saints, AJHL).

Millionaires vs. Klippers game blog

Klippers logoThe Kindersley Klippers completed a third-period comeback, erasing a two-goal deficit to top the Melville Millionaires 5-3 at the West Central Events Centre in Kindersley.

Defenceman Jared Pilet scored the game-winning goal for the Klippers.

A penalty-filled first period between the Millionaires and Klippers saw forwards Brandon Lauder and Michael Knaub ejected from the game.

Daniels out as Klippers host Millionaires

Klippers logoWhen the Kindersley Klippers host the Melville Millionaires Saturday evening, they will be doing so without second-leading scorer Colby Daniels.

The left-winger has one goal and three points through the Klippers opening two games but is suffering from an undisclosed minor injury.
