Bombers send Whelan to Manitoba

BombersThe Flin Flon Bombers have traded defenceman Sean Whelan (1994) to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the MJHL in exchange for future considerations.

The deal was announced Jan. 2 via the MJHL transaction page.

WolverinesWhelan, a 6-foot-1, 201-pound native of Moose Jaw, started his SJHL career with the Kindersley Klippers in 2012-13, dressing in 32 games and notching one goal and four points. The 2012-13 season also saw Whelan get a little major-junior experience under his belt as he suited up for 11 games with the WHL’s Regina Pats.

The 19-year-old defenceman had put up eight assists through 31 games with the Bombers in 2013-14 prior to being dealt.
