Terriers retrieve firepower from Flin Flon

TerriersThe Yorkton Terriers have bolstered their lineup as they continue to maintain a stronghold on first place in the SJHL.

Wednesday afternoon, the Terriers shipped LW Dalton Menke (1995) and future considerations to the Flin Flon Bombers in exchange for forward Brett Boehm (1994).

The deal was announced via the SJHL Twitter account at 1:54 p.m. this afternoon.

Boehm, who has committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth for the 2014-15 season, has registered 10 goals and 23 points in 21 games with the Bombers this season.

The 2012-13 SJHL rookie of the year tallied 25 goals and 52 points last season. A native of Martensville, the 6-foot-3 Boehm will add one more weapon to a dangerous Yorkton arsenal that already includes centre Tayler Thompson and defencemen Brady and Chase Norrish.

BombersIf it wasn’t already clear the Terriers were set to do anything and everything to chase down a second consecutive Canalta Cup, it certainly is now.

Meanwhile in Flin Flon, the Bombers receive the Menke, a 6-foot native of Shamrock, Sask.

In 23 games with the Terriers this season, Menke registered five goals and nine points. This is Menke’s first full season in the SJHL after he wrapped up his midget career with the Tisdale Trojans in 2012-13.

The Bombers will hit the ice without Boehm for the first time this Friday as they welcome the Kindersley Klippers to Flin Flon.

The Terriers are back in action Friday as well, welcoming the Estevan Bruins to Yorkton.
