The Melville Millionaires have traded defenceman Will Holtan (1994) to the MJHL’s Winnipeg Blues.
The trade completes a deal between the two squads that was consummated July 3, 2013 when the Blues sent goaltender Isaiah Plett (1993) to Melville in exchange for future considerations.
Immediately after acquiring Holtan, the Blues turned around and flipped him to the Swan Valley Stampeders in exchange for the rights to forward Ezra Hall (1996), defenceman Zach Lamothe (1997) and future considerations.
Holtan, a 6-foot-3 blueliner from Rochester, N.Y., tallied one goal and five points in 14 games for the Millionaires this season.
The July trade has paid big dividends for the Millionaires, who sit second in the SJHL with a record of 13-4-2-2. Plett, a native of Steinbach, Man., has gone 10-4-0-2 with a 2.34 GAA and 0.928 SP through 17 games this season.
Melville is in action tonight as they play host to the Yorkton Terriers.
