The Weyburn Red Wings have acquired goaltender Luke Grassl (1995) from the Melfort Mustangs in exchange for future considerations.
The deal was announced via the Red Wings’ Twitter account Nov. 10.
According to Red Wings head coach Bryce Thoma, Grassl has joined the team in Weyburn and will provide additional depth to the team’s existing tandem, which already features star rookie Rylan Parenteau along with Jack Burgart.
Parenteau has been a stud in net for the Red Wings, posting a 5-9-1 record with a solid 2.92 GAA and 0.926 SP.
Grassl, a native of Lashburn, Sask., will likely compete with Burgart for playing time. In six games this season, Burgart is 2-2-0 with a 4.19 GAA and 0.865 SP.
Grassl spent the previous two seasons with the Swift Current Legionnaires (midget AAA).
