Klippers acquire Dubeau from Bonnyville

Klippers logoThe Kindersley Klippers have acquired 1994-born centre Marc Dubeau from the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior League in exchange for the rights to 1993-born defenceman Troy Gedny.

Dubeau has dressed for seven games with the Pontiacs in 2013-14, notching four assists along the way. The 6-foot-5, 202-pound centre is originally from St. Lina, Alta., a hamlet approximately 50km west of Bonnyville.

In 55 career games with the Pontiacs from 2012 through 2013, Dubeau posted 10 goals, 25 points and 44 PIMs. The addition of his big body will help address a size issue the Klippers have been fighting for the past few years. He will also fill a void down the middle as centre Devin Case was injured in Saturday night’s win over Melville. Head coach/general manager Rockie Zinger said it is expected Case will miss three to four weeks with an undisclosed lower body injury.

After the announcement of the trade, Dubeau took to Twitter to thank the town of Bonnyville:

@dubes_10: The town and people of bonnyville were awesome! I enjoyed every minute and I’m gonna miss everyone! #newchapter #kindersleyklippers

In Gedny, the Klippers lose a 20-year-old veteran defenceman who played 96 games for the team between 2011-12 and 2012-13. Gedny has yet to suit up in 2013-14.

Following his acquisition by the Pontiacs, it has been reported Gedny was subsequently flipped to the Drumheller Dragons in exchange for future considerations.
