Klippers head north for rematch with Battlefords

KlippersThe Kindersley Klippers and Battlefords North Stars will hit the ice tonight at 7:30 for the back-end of their home-and-home series to open the 2013-14 SJHL regular season.

The Klippers are expected to make a couple minor changes to the lineup heading into tonight’s game. RW Brandon Lauder is expected to be replaced by Dylan Tuskey while goaltender Alex Bitsakis will take the place of Evan Weninger on the bench. Tyrell King, who stopped 27 of 28 shots to earn the victory last night, will once again get the start in net for Kindersley.

Kindersley prevailed 3-1 in the season-opener last night on home ice as the North Stars lost starting goaltender Luke Lee Knight to a suspected separated shoulder.

Colby Daniels scored the Klippers second goal with only one second remaining the first period. Daniels’ tally would hold up and prove to be the game-winner despite a big third-period push from Battlefords. Ryne Keller would make things tight, pulling the North Stars within one with only three minutes remaining in regulation.

Despite the win, Klippers head coach/GM Rockie Zinger wasn’t pleased with his team’s third-period performance.
